Blarney & a Pub

We have been so many places it all begins to blend together. Saturday we began our day departing from a country estate (Dunloe Castle) in Killarney and made our way to the Granville Hotel in downtown Waterford (Crystal). Along the way we made a few stops including the castle at Blarney to do the usual tourist stuff like kissing the stone. It was more traumatic than imagined and I now realize that at my age, my back does not arch backwards like it may have in my youth😢

The climb to the stone was interesting as was the view. The wind was howling and my grandson lost his newly acquired cap to it. This is the last known photo of it:

Cohen is a bit more flexible than me and had no trouble kissing the stone. He could use the gab gift. I already have it☺️

Here is the tower. Stone to kiss is at the very top:

Onward to the city of Cork where we visited the English Market:

The highlight of the day was a visit to a pub “The Marine Bar”

Where we were privileged to hear two musical artists. This one local - Christy Moore:

And this one from Minden, NV:

We reached our final destination for the night The Granville Hotel in Waterford, Ireland. This hotel was different in that it was located in the heart of the old city. The building had the same sort of ornate decor as you would expect to find in Virginia City, NV .

There was a lot going on in this little city Saturday night as this is long weekend extended by what the locals call a “bank holiday.” Monday is a holiday!

Here are a couple pictures from city center: (Hogan is my middle name)

After a sumptuous dinner we played phase 10 with Cohen the off to bed.
