The Cliffs of Moher

Took a little walk this morning, thereby avoiding a breakfast. I was still over stuffed from last night’s dinner and the thought of putting anything in my mouth other than coffee was not good.

Here are the grounds of the hotel this morning. Note the sign on the gate. Interesting….

I mentioned it’s a golf course

We headed towards the Cliffs of Moher, first stopped at a pub on the coast for an Irish Coffee.

Then onto one of Ireland’s biggest attractions: the Cliffs of Moher.

Of course no attraction would be one without a tower or castle.

Along the way I was amazed by the limestone surface of the earth. The pieces were flattened and shaped by the glaciers as they melted. Somehow, grass grows between the segments.

We motored on with our tour guide Joe regaling us with stories about just anything Irish, including poems by Tennyson, Yeats and Moore. We ferried across the River Shannon and down the road to a picturesque spot overlooking Lough Leane at the Killarney National Park.

We arrived at our opulent hotel (pictures tomorrow) Dunloe Castle in time for a drink and then dinner at 6:30pm.

Until tomorrow, I’ll bid you all adieux !
