Where do I start?
How about at 5:30 am when we gobbled down a bit of breakfast and headed out the door to hit the green line to Victoria station (sound like I know what I’m doing😩) where we managed to find the tour bus for our day trip today. The bus was filled with English speakers and was guided by a little Chinese woman named Regina who spoke more understandable English than the Brits do.
We covered a lot of ground today, literally. The trip was 12 hours long and full of amazing stuff.
We visited Windsor Castle where the late Queen Elizabeth loved to spend weekends and though we didn’t have enough time and they wouldn’t let you take pictures inside (not sure why). The whole place was rather impressive.
Next stop was Bath. It is a city which began as a Roman Bath. Here is the Abbey 😳
Back on the bus and forward we went to the last stop of the day, Stonehenge! I have always wanted to visit this place since I was a kid. It did not disappoint!
Following our bus tour we were dropped off at Gloucester Road and made our way on foot to a restaurant recommended by Regina, our tour guide. “Memories of India” was a great choice! Best Indian food I have ever had. Delicately spiced and not hot as I have experienced in the states.
A short walk to the tube station and, with a little confusion, we managed to grab the right train to west Kensington and our temporary home. All in all a great day!
I must suggest that others who are visiting overseas utilize the 2 tour companies I have. This one was .Civitas I believe that they are a tour clearing house that basically sets you up with a specific tour. I have used them now in both Porto and London and the prices are right and they use well organized tours.
The other tour website/app I like to use is Withlocals. When you find yourself in a place where you want a personal, one on one 3 hour walking tour, take a look at their website. Also priced reasonably and, so far so good!
Tally Ho! Catch up later☺️
