A dizzy day!
Because yesterday we did a circular “Ring of Kerry” tour. This attraction is actually a picturesque trip around the countryside on the southwestern side of the Emerald Isle. We started the ring going counter-clockwise and by the end of the trip we understood why busses take this route. It had to do with the rocky overhangs on the other side of the road which would have made it impossible for a large bus or camper to pass without holding up traffic or ripping part of the roof off.
Our first stop was at a woolen shop, Moriarty’s, to purchase some Irish made souvenirs. Then onto “The Kerry Bog Village,” a re-creation of a bog village of the 18th/19th century. It kind of reminded me of how working people in the Smokey Mountains may have lived during that time. Very humble.
Notice the stock included under the same roof. Done to help keep the place warm.
Lunch of fish chowder was had at Dooleys by the sea in Waterville.
The little seaside town reminded me of many in California such as Mendocino.
Continuing on the ring, we saw old castles and churches:
On our counterclockwise journey we encountered those who were finishing their clockwise journey. Many of those drivers must have been tourists’ rentals because they had difficulty dealing with our behemoth of a vehicle on the tiny roads and driving on the unfamiliar side (left). I know I would be put off by it😬
We arrived back in Killarney where we met up with Cohen, Montana and Uriah and where we hired Marc and Susie for a a ride in a Jaunting cart.
On this jaunt we visited the first Irish National Park where we saw a herd of Japanese deer, a bunch of wooden rowboats on a river and, surprise, surprise, a castle!!
Later on this evening, Russ and I attended a fantastic performance by a Celtic Dancing and Music Group.
Turned in about 11:30 pm

This looks like a really great trip amd love your blog!
